Job Description:

Position:    Maintenance Engineer

Location:       Vapi

Experience:   5 - 10 Years

Industries:    Chemical

Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance for production equipment and utility systems.
  • Ensure maximum equipment uptime and minimize production downtime through timely maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Supervise maintenance technicians and allocate daily maintenance activities.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and instrumentation issues in manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Maintain critical utility systems, including HVAC, boilers, chillers, air compressors, purified water (PW), Water for Injection (WFI), clean steam, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Prepare and implement preventive maintenance schedules using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning, qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ), and validation activities.
  • Ensure all maintenance work complies with cGMP, SOPs, EHS, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, equipment history, calibration records, and work orders.
  • Investigate equipment failures using Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Participate in deviation investigations, change control, risk assessments, and audit preparation.
  • Monitor maintenance KPIs such as equipment uptime, preventive maintenance compliance, MTBF, and MTTR.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate procurement to ensure critical spares are available.
  • Coordinate with production, quality, validation, and engineering teams to schedule maintenance with minimal disruption.
  • Supervise external contractors and verify maintenance work meets company and regulatory standards.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, energy efficiency, and maintenance performance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), permit-to-work systems, and safe work practices.
  • Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits by providing maintenance documentation and addressing observations.
  • Prepare maintenance reports, analyze trends, and present performance updates to management.
  • Train and mentor maintenance technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, GMP, and safety practices.

Required Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of preventive and breakdown maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting skills for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and utility equipment.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, maintenance documentation, and MIS reporting.
  • Ability to read technical drawings and equipment manuals.
  • Good communication and team coordination skills.

Required Qualification: - B.E/B.Tech - Mechanical
